Privacy policy

Who we are

This website is operated by Calmaeditions Limited, Company Registration No. 81041663, registered in Hong Kong (“Calma Editions”, “we”, “us” or “our”). This policy explains what personal data we process when you visit or buy from this website, why we process it, and the choices and rights available to you, and is written with the Hong Kong Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (PDPO) as its framework.

Data we collect

Online payment is not yet open on this Site, so no order can currently be completed through checkout, and no checkout form asks you for personal data. At present, the only personal data we collect from you is what you send us yourself if you write to contact@calmaeditions.com — typically your email address and whatever you tell us in your message. When online payment opens, placing an order will involve providing an email address as part of that process, together with details of the order itself (the title purchased, the price paid and the date); we will update this policy to describe that in full before it goes live.

How we use it

Today, any message you send us is used only to reply to you and to keep a record of that correspondence. Once online payment opens, order data will additionally be used to give you access to your book and order confirmation, to respond if you contact us about an order — including a refund request — and to keep the accounting records a business is required to keep. We do not use any data we hold to send marketing messages unless you separately ask us to.

Hosting and technical logs

The Site is served through Cloudflare's content delivery network, which processes standard technical logs, such as IP address and request metadata, in order to deliver pages reliably and to protect the Site against abuse. These logs are generated automatically by the infrastructure that serves the Site, are not linked to your order, and are kept only for as long as needed for performance and security purposes.

Cookie and consent choice

We store a single value in your browser's local storage to remember whether you accepted or declined our cookie notice. This is not a tracking cookie and is not shared with anyone. Full detail is in our cookie policy.

Payments

Online card payment is not yet open on this Site. When it opens, card details will be handled directly by our payment providers, on their own secure payment pages, and will never be stored on our systems. We will update this policy to name those providers before online card payment goes live.

Sharing your data

We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes. The infrastructure that runs this Site is provided by Cloudflare (hosting and content delivery) and Supabase (database and file storage); both process data on our behalf, strictly to run the Site and, once online payment opens, to fulfil your order, and never for their own purposes.

International transfers

Calmaeditions Limited is registered in Hong Kong, and the infrastructure described above may process data in other countries. Where this happens, we rely on those providers' own safeguards for cross-border processing and only use providers who are contractually required to protect your data appropriately.

How long we keep it

Order records are kept for seven years, in line with Hong Kong accounting record-keeping rules. Correspondence, such as an email you send us, is kept for two years unless it relates to an order, in which case it follows the order's retention period. Technical hosting logs are kept for a much shorter period, as described above.

Security

The Site is served over HTTPS, so information sent between your browser and our servers is encrypted in transit. No card data is stored on our systems, as described above under Payments.

Your rights

You may ask what personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by writing to us through our contact page, at contact@calmaeditions.com, or by post to Calmaeditions Limited, Flat 2304, 23/F, Ho King Commercial Centre, 2-16 Fa Yuen Street, Mong Kok, Hong Kong. We will respond to any such request within two business days. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you may also raise a complaint with us at the same address, and we will do our best to resolve it directly.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example if what we collect or why changes. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised; continuing to use the Site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
